After numerous months of being down due to hardware re-configuration and lack of time to re-configure the software to accomodate the hardware changes the site is back online.

Some valuable (and some potentially obvious) lessons learned are:

  1. Suexec does not come with apache by default
  2. Online tutorials constantly claim they should not be followed blindly...  However, you actually need to heed that advice.
  3. Always be prepared to fiddle and tweak the commands in any online tutorial
  4. For most problems you will need multiple tutorials.  Very few people run into, solve and blog about the EXACT problem you are experiencing
